Liam didn't think he would raise as much as he did, he said. “We kept expecting the people in the stores to tell us we couldn't buy that many things at once.” “It took six trips to five different grocery stores to buy that much food during a pandemic,” he said. Within five days Liam raised $2,265 in cash and about $400 more in food. “It was amazing how many people wanted to help.” “So many people responded so fast,” Liam said. He took to social media, posting his thoughts about the food situation in the country and what he wanted to do. “We talked about how many people need food, not just here in our community but in the whole country.” “My mom and all the midwives she works with donated food to the food pantry this holiday season,” he said. Rather than wait for someone else to step in and help, the Scituate eighth-grader decided to hold his own food drive to benefit the Scituate Food Pantry.
